Mt Duneed Estate Chardonnay
Region: Victoria – 72% Upper Goulburn, 18% Yarra Valley
Winemaking: A combination of whole bunch pressed and destemmed/crushed grapes were used. The whole bunch juice portion was fermented in oak barrels with the remaining juice being fermented in stainless steel at cool temperatures. The wine was aged in oak for 8 months prior to blending and bottling.
The cool and low yielding 2020 vintage saw Chardonnay excel. The style is mineral with lovely fresh acidity. Loads of melon, peach and nectarine aromas. The palate has a distinctive savoury oak mouth-feel balanced by rich flavours of untoasted cashew and a hint of brioche. This is a wine that will reward mid-term cellaring.
Occasion: As the days lengthen with spring, enjoy this wine sitting in your outdoor space with some prosciutto wrapped around chunks of melon.
